Sex, Fish, & Videotape

There have been several interesting stories on the morning news lately. Two of which I feel are worthy of my blog.

First: Grand Theft Auto. Those of you who have heard this story know what I am about to say: cartoon porn. Okay, so here's the deal. We all know that a large portion of America blames the majority of the violent crime in this country on this very video game. Truly, it does look pretty grotesque, but the latest version has sparked a new kind of crazy. Apparently, if you get some kind of secret code for the new version, you can essentially direct your own porn scene. However, thanks to mass media, you no longer need any secret code, you can just watch the major networks news shows!! Because they have shown the scenes over & over again. They blurred out a naked figure of a women, walking over to man who is sitting on a bed (fully clothed of course). The woman gets down on her knees and, well, you can guess the rest...or just watch it on the knees. There is also a missionary scene, in which the man again is fully clothed & the woman completely naked but blurred for TV. So, people are outraged. This game was rated "Mature" so you have to be 17 to buy it, but critics say it should be rated "Adults Only" so that major retailers like Walmart would not even carry the game. Enter Hillary Clinton. She has a great plan! Set up a system where by any retailer who sells "mature" or "adults only" games to kids will be fined $5K. Yeah, that will work! We've never tried that before!! Can anyone say "TOBACCO & ALCOHOL"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So, Hillary, thanks for the suggestion, but I think we can do without a rampant video-game black market. What needs to happen is a system that punishes the game makers directly, for hiding content like this from the ratings board, and the punishment needs to be huge. But we won't do that, that might take some effort or thought.

Second: Death By Fishing. Okay, so that is a bit of an exaggeration. Nobody actually died, but it was pretty close! I am referring to a story about a teenage boy & his sister, fishing with their father, I believe in the Gulf of Mexico, but I may be wrong about that. Anyhoo, bro is fishing & sis is video taping. Boy hooks a Marlin, which is a HUGE fish that looks like a swordfish to me, but apparently is not. Marlin LEAPS out of the water, straight up in the air, twice. Then it leaps into the boat and attacks the boy!!! All the while the sister has the camera rolling. The footage was absolutely insane! I really thought the fish was fake. The sister said there was so much blood she thought the fish' sword had gone clear thru her bro's face, but it only grazed the side and I believe broke his nose. It was then HOURS on the boat to get back to shore. It sounds like a terrifying event, but everyone is fine. I have to say tho, GO FISH!!! Finally, they fight back!
